Achieve sustainable economic growth and reduce poverty
ADFD is supporting socioeconomic development in Niger, Nigeria, by ensuring agile and safe mobility of the population across the state, increasing the state’s entry and exit points and bolstering its connectivity with other regions in Nigeria. The road restoration project will also allow the area’s residents better access to markets and farmlands, thus increasing social and economic activities, and employment opportunities. The project covers the restoration of the road linking Niger’s capital Minna with the city of Bida through the construction of an 82km two-lane highway with each lane measuring 7.3m in width, as well as service roads on both sides in some areas. The project also includes rainwater drainage systems, improving intersections, installing road-safety devices, lighting, car parks, and putting toll booths along the road. Additionally, the initiative includes modernising social and economic infrastructure, health care, and education in some areas.
