Abu Dhabi Fund for Development Pledges Financial Contribution to Dar Zayed for Family Care
Abu Dhabi,23 Aug 2017
Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), the leading national entity for development aid, today announced a financial endowment to Dar Zayed for Family Care. Within the framework of the Fund’s 2017 corporate social responsibility (CSR) agenda, the monetary aid will empower the UAE society through community development efforts.
Held at ADFD’s headquarters, the cheque handing over ceremony was attended by Khalifa Al Qubaisi, Deputy Director General of ADFD, Nabil Al Dhaheri, Director General of Dar Zayed for Family Care.
Enabling Dar Zayed for Family Care in implementing its existing humanitarian, educational, and community services and initiatives, ADFD’s endowment will be allocated to equipping young men and women enrolled at various universities and colleges with laptops.
Reaffirming the Fund’s strategy in boosting community development and youth education, Khalifa Al Qubaisi, said: “This contribution marks another strategic milestone in ADFD’s community development efforts and reflects our ongoing commitment in funding programmes for the well-being of our local community. We are pleased and proud to support Dar Zayed for Family Care in this crucial endeavour that will further bolster the UAE’s education sector through providing resources to enable students to complete their university careers.”
Al Qubaisi added: “In line with the UAE leadership’s vision to empower the youth of our country with resources that foster learning and help shape a knowledge economy, this new collaboration with Dar Zayed for Family Care also reinforces ADFD’s keenness to support the country’s Year of Giving.”
For his part, Nabil Al Dhaheri praised the support provided by the Fund and highlighted the significant impact of the endowment for the students and families affiliated with Dar Zayed for Family Care. He also noted that Dar Zayed for Family Care leads an active role in collaborating with UAE institutions in order to provide support for individuals who lack family care and enable their social integration.
Furthermore, in a bid to enhance civic responsibilities, and instil a spirit of social solidarity and volunteerism in the community, ADFD lately announced the ‘My Community’ programme. This CSR initiative hopes to strengthen the principles and values of volunteerism across the Fund’s departments, and strengthens partnerships among local public and private sector companies through tasking ADFD’s employees with completing 25 hours of volunteering annually.
ADFD, over the last 10 years, has pursued an active CSR agenda and as a result, was ranked among the top five best UAE government organisations in the 2015 edition of the Arab Social Responsibility Awards.
