ADFD Extends Monetary Support to Dar Zayed for Family Care

Abu Dhabi,12 Mar 2019

Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), the leading national entity for international development aid, extended a financial contribution to the talent centre at Dar Zayed for Family Care (DZFC), an organisation dedicated to the care of orphans.

In line with the Fund’s 2019 corporate social responsibility (CSR) agenda, the endowment seeks to support DZFC in honing the skills and abilities of children and youth in its care through implementing a unified education programme to ensure their personal development and integration into society. Aiming to bolster creative skills, the financial support covers organising programmes and training workshops for the young people as well as the provision of essential supplies to the talent centre.

Speaking on the occasion, His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADFD, said: “To support the development of future generations, Abu Dhabi Fund for Development works tirelessly to achieve its CSR objectives through collaborating with key institutions that promote capacity building, education and youth development.”

He added: “We are proud to partner with DZFC in supporting its efforts to provide key social services for children through its various initiatives. Working to improve the skills of our youth and encourage innovative practices are crucial to overcome obstacles and enable sustainable development.”

For his part, His Excellency Nabil Saleh Al Dhaheri, Director-General of DZFC, praised the solidarity and support of ADFD in enabling Dar Zayed for Family Care to achieve its outlined priorities. He added that the Fund's support for the talent centre will empower its young people to participate in internal and external events such as exhibitions and community competitions.
In February 2019, ADFD extended a financial contribution to the Higher Colleges of Technology’s Abu Dhabi Men’s College (ADMC) campus for its ‘Al Ibtikar Club’. Aiming to engage ADMC students in innovative and creative activities, the financial support was allocated towards providing lab equipment and supplies for the Club’s Idea Lab and various activities that support student advancement.

In mid-October 2017, ADFD extended a financial contribution to the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation (KBZF) to assist low-income households within the country through a two-pronged approach – the provision of essential school supplies and financing medical treatment.

In early October 2017, ADFD earmarked an endowment for Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs (ZHO) to expand its schedule of gardening workshops for differently abled women at the Zayed Agriculture Center.

In September 2017, the Fund extended monetary support to two Emirates Foundation programmes – Kafa’at and Think Science – that aimed to empower UAE youth. In August 2017, ADFD allocated a financial contribution to Dar Zayed for Family Care to purchase laptops for university students to assist them in their studies.

Furthermore, in a bid to enhance social solidarity and instil a spirit of civic responsibility across its departments, the Fund leveraged its partnerships with local public and private sector entities to launch the My Community programme that mandates every employee to complete 25 hours of voluntary work annually.

Since its inception in 1971, ADFD has financed thousands of development projects worth approximately AED83 billion in 88 beneficiary countries. Mandated to implement Abu Dhabi government’s development programme policies, the Fund provides concessionary loans, manages Abu Dhabi government grants and injects direct long-term investments with the aim of driving economic development in partner countries.
