ADFD realizes the vital role the transport sector plays in sustainable development and elevating living standards. To support this key pillar of national priorities of developing countries, the Fund contributed to the financing of the Sheikh Zayed Road in Mali with a grant worth AED31 million. The scope included the construction of a 7.9-kilometre road linking the capital Bamako with the western regions of the country. In addition to facilitating the movement of people and goods, the vital infrastructure project has eased traffic congestion and reduced the number of traffic accidents.
