Overview

To support the Moroccan government’s efforts to improve infrastructure and services in the transportation sector, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development contributed to funding the Trans-Maghreb Motorway Axis, which connects the city of Tangier on the Atlantic Ocean to pass through many touristic attractions and commercial hubs on its way to the eastern part of the country. The project played a significant role in improving transportation services and facilitating trade between countries of the Greater Maghreb and the rest of Mediterranean countries. It also had a positive impact on developing northern regions in Morocco. The project included constructing a 132km highway adjacent to the sea that connects Al Hoceima and Nador cities. It also included constructing bridges, tunnels, intersections, and sewage facilities.
