The project aims at meeting the increasing demand for electric power in the provinces of Gobi Altai, Zangan, and the neighboring towns. The project includes; -The construction of a concrete dam 197 meters long, and 50 meters high on Zangan River. -A discharge channel 70 meters wide able to discharge about 850m3 of water per second. -Construction of a power plant that houses 3 turbines with a total capacity of 11 MW. -Installation of 188.5 Km long transmission line. 6.5 Km of which will connect the dam site with the substation in Taishir, and another 47Km long 35kv line to link Taishir to Al tai town the capital of Gobi Al tai province, as well as a 110kv 135 long transmission connecting the substation with the town of Ultasi.
