Overview

The renewable energy projects funded by ADFD reflect the UAE's commitment to promoting the adoption of renewable and clean energy around the world. To mitigate the high cost of energy production and imports, as well as to improve Mauritania’s economy in the long term, the Fund financed the construction of wind power stations in the country in 2014. The project involved building four wind power plants, capable of generating 270 kW of energy, in four coastal cities – Limassed, Zalmegrat, Bauakh and Luber. The scope included the civil, electrical and mechanical works, as well as knowledge transfer and training for local workers to operate and maintain the stations. In addition to supplying the four cities with clean electricity, the project contributes to environmental conservation efforts, helps reduce carbon emissions and provides employment opportunities.
