Overview

In the past few years, the Jordanian economy’s accelerated growth has led to a surge in the demand on electricity, which in turn has increased pressure on the national power grid. Energy projects have become a key priority in the UAE’s contribution to the Gulf Development Fund for Jordan. Securing energy alternatives through renewable energy sources has become a development priority in the country’s efforts to deal with the rise of prices in oil derivatives. It is also especially important for conserving the environment and reducing CO2 emissions.  This vital necessity led to the establishment of a solar energy farm in Al Kwairah area. The farm uses photovoltaic panels to generate between 65 to 75 megawatts of power, and is linked to the national power grid.
