Overview

Energy is among the major sectors that the Moroccan government is seeking to advance as part of its efforts to achieve its sustainable development ambitions. To help with this aim, the UAE provided grant funding to rehabilitate power stations in seven Moroccan cities: Jerada, Mohammedia, Kenitra, Laayoune, Agadir, Tan-Tan, and Dakhla. The objective was to ensure a reliable source of power supply and strike a balance between supply and demand in Moroccan cities. The project also included rehabilitating production lines in thermal power stations in Jerada, Mohammedia and Kenitra cities, and rehabilitating gas turbine power plants and diesel plants in Laayoune, Agadir, Tan-Tan, and Dakhla.
