Overview

The project aimed to establish the Social Fund for Development, whose purpose was to provide secondary loans to owners of small and medium enterprises, a measure that would create jobs in productive fields for thousands of youth, university graduates and those who lost their jobs at the beginning of the implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Reforms Program. ADFD financed the Social Fund for Development in Egypt twice. The first time was in 1991, the second time was in 1997. These two loans bolstered the active role played by the Social Fund for Development in backing the projects of graduate entrepreneurs as well as craftsmen.
